Waiting on the Lord

Housing:

We have pretty much decided on a berm home. I think it is going to resemble a castle in the front. Right now we are staying a a trailer park, and think we might finish Micah and Nicole's basement and move in there until our house is done. Nicole said we have 5 years until they move their kids to the basement. We have a really cool idea in the oven for our house, and it will be practially free to build the outside structure. It will be very economical on heating and cooling, and a very spacious house for all our kids and their kids on holidays. It will even be big enough for all the dil's (Daughter-In-Laws) parents and siblings to join us too!

Livestock
We have pretty much decided we will first start with sheep, and I have a very diversified mini sheep operation planed.
the following breeds are interesting me at this time:

1. Babydoll Southdown and regular Southdowns

2. St Croix

3. Jacob Sheep

4. Scottish Blackface

5. Mini Cheviot

6. Icelandic

7. Finnsheep

In my next posting I will let you know why these 7 breeds are the ones I am interested in raising.

Right now we have: (Micah has) several breeds of chickens, I picked out the houdens. He has a barred rock, some Road Island Reds, and a few other breeds. I need to get more familiar with them They are laying, and he has built a little mini chicken coupe for them. I will need to get my hens and their rooster separated very soon as they are almost mature enough to need to be separated.
We have the two Shetlands left. (CocoNight died last winter) and we have two Aussies. My little Lillie, and Micah and Micaiah's Little Rella. I hope we can take them to a herding camp this fall and let them get trained. We will need them to protect and herd our little sheep flock.

PRAYER TIME:I pray for all of you, and am praying right now for Kristi and Ken and Carolyn and Joe in Liberia, Africa. Praying God does a mighty work through them, and that they return home safely on Saturday.

Our old dog dies this week

Frank came to us in an interesting way. His owner bought him to use for breeding purposes. He then had to go away for a time, and asked his parents to take care of his pup whiles he was away ~I think he was in Desert Storm~ When he returned home, his parents had done the nice thing and gotten his dog neutered for him! He had been with them for over a year, and they spoiled him rotten. They let him sleep on their living room couch, and fed him T - bone steaks. He was super fat, and neutered, and very spoiled. His owner decided to give him away, so our son Micah wanted him and got him. He was a registered Australian Shepherd, our kind of dog! We had raised them since I was a child. His name was Frank. He was a red almost solid, but he did have some gold markings. He was very beautiful.and very big and very sweet. He was an excellent cow dog. He just loved little things of all sorts.Once he saved a little orphan kitten he found in a haystack down in the meadow. He brought her to the house and kept her between his paws all night until My dh got up to go to work. He then offered the kitten to him, basically asking him to take care of the kitten. He used to feed all the little pups we raised. He would drag his own bowl of food over to their pen and try to get it in their pen so they could eat it. He protected all things little and all things he thought were vulnerable. Like my mother. He used to try to protect her, and help her up the stairs etc. Frank came to us in 1992 when he was 2 years old, and he died last week at the ripe old age of 17. We will miss Frank! He was a good dog.

Home on the Farm: Sunday after church

Home on the Farm: Sunday after church
Monday mornig it is a nice 60 degrees. I am going out to take care of my animals. The aussies need to run for a few hours. I am going to survey the property and decide where to build my hen house. none of the work can start until June, but it is fun planning.
However my dh put a little wrench in the planning this morning when he called, he suggested we sell out and move up to the Saint Louis area.... I really think it would be a good idea, but I am waiting on the Lord! I said but I want a farm. He said we could buy 40 acres up there if we sold this. Waiting again upon the Lord, but going to occupy meanwhile! Sometimes I weary of the not knowing going on in my life, but have assured rest in knowin God is ultimately in control and do not worry conscerning the important spiritual aspects of life for I believe the Author and Finisher. So if he can do so great a work Spiritually He can also handle my material whats and wheres as well. Lord, keep me faithful! Show me Your way.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." (Heb 12:1-4)

Sunday after church
As I told you in my introduction, I live on a 40 acre farm in Missouri. I attend when I am here a little Christian Church. I am a member of this church, but do not do anything to contribute anymore. I need prayer this can change, that this church will get on fire for Christ, and become evangelistic in nature. As with most rural areas of Missouri, there are hoards of unchurched folks out there in the community. These folks need to be reached for Christ, and we as a church body need to have the desire to bring them into our churches, to offer them something that will move them to a desire to first, know Christ, accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, and then to serve Him in the fellowship so that others in turn might get to Know Christ, accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, and then serve Him in the Fellowship so that others in turn might get to Know Christ..... You get what I mean. I need folks to pray for this little Church body, and that I might have a real active part in bringing others to knowing what the Church is sitting there for in the first place. I am most often visiting my adult children living in other communities, so unless God really shows me and confirms to me through this little church that I need to be active here in this fellowship, I fell I need to go elsewhere to determine what to do to serve Christ. I am concerned about this I am not a "People person" and so not the evangelist in practice, but in faith know there are those who can bring in those in the community, and I know my gifts are in administering programs like plays, Sunday schools, VBS's and concerts, women's meetings and other activities of this sort.
Any ideas and or comments would be appreciated! Thanks
